Scarred Executioners Series by Lexie Axelson (Book 1 & 2)

See You Soon by Lexie Axelson
Scarred Executioners Book 1 (English Edition)

Ari Alvarez, a recent nursing graduate student who is no stranger to the military lifestyle. She’s naive, fearful yet motivated after the passing of her older brother. She’s entering a new chapter in her life where she has to adjust without her best friend and start a career that mentally and physically challenges her. Meanwhile, she’s battling the unknown gnawing details of her brother’s death and the grief that follows her.

Danny Rider, Operator Grim Reaper is a Navy SEAL who lives a very selfish, career-focused life and he likes it that way. He is only responsible for himself and no one else. He’s a lethal killer, with demons always looming inside of him due to all the trauma of constant deployments. Yet, when he meets Ari she’s both damaging to his addictions and the halo he needs.

Worth reading? Maybe.
The start to the story was a little slow going, but once Ari was finally on the job, the plot became more exciting and I celebrated when she and Danny finally gave in to their feelings. Yes, they have a lot of sex and it takes up a lot of space in the story, which I didn’t like so much. The cliffhanger makes me curious about the second book.

I Promise You by Lexie Axelson
Scarred Executioners Book 2 (English Edition)

𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿

I never thought I could change. My main purpose in life has always been my career and my team. That is until my tainted soul met the sweet and angelic, Ari Alvarez..my dead best friend’s sister.
Her love has become my newest addiction. Just when things seemed to be okay again, there’s an evil that lurks. A new threat I’m determined to protect us from.

𝗔𝗿𝗶 𝗔𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘇

After meeting the sinfully handsome Navy SEAL, my life has changed…forever. After my brother’s death, I felt like I needed to take control of my life and it was a new era of drastic changes. But that’s when I met Operator Grim Reaper. My shell has been obliterated by him in all the best ways. Even though Danny makes me feel safe, I still catch myself looking over my shoulder.

𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗽𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁?

Worth reading? No.
While I enjoyed the first volume to some extent, I found the sequel very disappointing. But after the cliffhanger at the end of the first part, I wanted to continue reading.
I’m always up for a love triangle, but here I found it disappointing. For me, Kane is her endgame, even though Danny challenges her and goes through a development himself, but I wasn’t completely convinced.
In addition, there are constant repetitions and the back and forth between the two main characters, so that at some point I was just looking forward to the end of the book.
